review - April 6, 1917. On a battlefield in Northern France, Lance Corporal Tom Blake with the British Army is asked to choose one of his battalion colleagues to join him on an assignment, he choosing his best friend, Lance Corporal Will Schofield. It isn't until Blake chooses Schofield that they learn of the dangerous nature of the mission: to hand deliver a message to Colonel MacKenzie leading another nearby battalion, they having to cross no man's land to what they have been told are now the abandoned German trenches to get to MacKenzie just past the nearby town of Écoust. The message, which must reach its destination by dawn tomorrow, is for MacKenzie to abort his troop's attack then on the supposedly retreating Germans who are in reality lying in wait, the Germans having planned this deception for months. The lives of MacKenzie and his 1,600 men are at risk if the message does not make it through in time, one of those men being Blake's brother, Lt. Joseph Blake. Blake and Schofield's stories as it pertains to them as soldiers in the bigger picture of the war, as soldiers trying to stay alive, as friends, and as human beings who have their own motivations are told for as long as they are able to survive on this mission

Movie 1917 with english subtitles subtitle. Maybe the director of this movie should make a movie about the battle of Leyte Gulf or Philippine Sea. That walk Will took to get to that tree in the end. it feels as if he is truly alone in the world at this moment. Movie 1917 with english subtitles 1. Great camera work, great shots of the locations i.e the trenches, dead man's land, the dead bodies etc, it is very depressing and bleak which I all loved but the story was overall poor. You never really feel for the characters that much apart from the death scene. The dialogue is poor and the acting starts very poor. The best scene was when the plane came down and the young soldier gets stabbed and dies. A messed up scene which makes you feel rather strange and sick. I think that scene will stay with me for a while. Nothing much else happens apart from a sniper missing him with shots about 10 times even though he is in clear sight, in daylight, a few Germans chasing him and missing him yet again with their shots and him getting away, rather far fetched. An okay try but not a classic. Definitely going to be overated. 7/10 for me because of the amazing camera work and the death scene.

The scene wouldn't be as iconic if he didn't accidentally bump the extras. Das crazy. This is one of the best movies Ive ever seen. Lets just also appreciate the fact that in an age of lazy cut and paste cgi these guys still took the time to build proper sets and do proper location shooting. Does 1917 have subtitles. Movie 1917 with english subtitles sub. Early on I noticed no cuts and was like - this is different. Soo it is called Midway, but covers Pearl harbor, the Doolittle Raid and Midway, while having cgi that somehow looks worse than Pearl Harbor almost twenty years ago... This movie touched me unlike any other movie. Schofield running down the front line was some of the best cinema EVER. What a masterpiece of a movie, one of the best movies I've ever seen. 10/10. I couldn't believe the simplicity and elegance that was captured on screen knowing the amount of technical detail and planning that had to go into creating the set and how the real light would track over it and the actor knowing when and where he needed to be in a location and for how long. My favorite film of 2019. A beautiful dance between the actors and the camera with such a simple yet powerful objective driving them. Just goes to show and film doesn't need to be complicated to be brilliant.

Why am I crying. Watching the initial trailers, I was so sure this was gonna be another Pearl Harbor, complete with all the jingoism and sensationalism that made Michael Bay's film the atrocity that it is.
